En el desierto, sin adultos, dos niños intenta encontrar respuestas a sus inquietudes. Deambulan por espacios abiertos sin prisa. Descansan en medio de la carretera o debajo de las torres de alta tensión. Hablan sobre la vida y la muerte, para qué son los maestros, sobre grandes animales que murieron hace años, la oscuridad absoluta, los idiomas extranjeros y las noticias que nos llegan en botellas de vidrio. Nos hacen cuestionar la adultez.

On desert wilderness, without adults, two boys try to find answers to their questions. They roam through open spaces, without hurry. They rest in the middle of the road or under high voltage towers. They talk about life and death, ask what for are the teachers, about the big animals that died out many years ago, about absolute darkness, about foreign languages and about the news that comes to us in glass bottles. They make us question adulthood.

'This day we saw the volcano' is an experimental short set to explore the great questions of philosophy in a distinct type of way, through the eyes and voices of two boys. We are embarking into a journey with these two youngsters wandering though desertic landscapes contemplating some of humanity's greatest mysteries. We don't know where they came from or where they are going but their thirst for learning and investigation seem infinite.

Our short film “This day we saw the volcano” had its exhibition at the Be Epic London International Film Festival (BELIFF, England) and as part of his online activities, actor Jonathan Hearn conducted an extensive interview with the director of the play Dagmara Wyskiel, the first camera Julia Popławska, and one of its (non) actors, Janusz Núñez Wyskiel, within the framework of the series of live meetings with the filmmakers of the films that were selected to be shown and compete in the competition.

They discussed the experience of recording this film, the landscape of the Atacama Desert as the protagonist and how the idea for the film was conceived. Here, the record.

Nuestro cortometraje “Este día vimos el volcán” tuvo su exhibición en Be Epic London International Film Festival (BELIFF, Inglaterra) y como parte de sus actividades en línea, el actor Jonathan Hearn realizó una extensa entrevista a la directora de la obra Dagmara Wyskiel, la primera cámara Julia Popławska, y a uno de sus (no) actores, Janusz Núñez Wyskiel, en el marco de la serie de encuentros en vivo con los realizadores de las películas que fueron seleccionadas para ser exhibidas y competir en el certamen.
